What we collect
- Your email address — when you join our launch list or send us a message.
- Your message — anything you write to us through the contact form or by email.
- Basic usage data — which pages you view, where you arrived from, and general actions like button clicks and how far you scroll, plus your device/browser type. This helps us understand what’s useful and improve the site.
- A hashed (anonymised) version of your IP address — we never store your raw IP. We convert it into a one-way code so we can’t identify you from it.
- A random ID in your browser’s local storage — so we can see how one visit flows through the site. It isn’t linked to who you are unless you choose to give us your email.
What we don’t collect
We don’t take payment details on this site, we don’t track your precise location, and we don’t sell your personal data to anyone. Simply messaging us does not add you to our mailing list — only joining the launch list does that.
Why we use it (legal basis)
- Launch updates you asked for — on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw it anytime (see “Your rights”).
- Replying to you — to answer your questions and take steps you’ve requested.
- Understanding and improving the site — our legitimate interest in a product that works well, kept as minimal and anonymous as we reasonably can.
Cookies & local storage
We keep the site as cookie-light as possible:
- We use your browser’s local storage (not cookies) to remember your email and anonymous ID for the signup flow.
- Our website analytics are cookieless and privacy-first (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
- Some third-party tools we rely on (such as our email provider) may set their own cookies. If we ever add cookie-based analytics like Google Analytics, we’ll update this page.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site. They only process your data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, our database, and privacy-first analytics.
- Sender — storing our launch list and sending you email.
- Formspree — delivering contact-form messages to us (when enabled).
- Google Fonts — your browser fetches our fonts from Google, which receives your IP as part of that request.
- Gumroad — only if you choose to place a refundable reservation, to handle that transaction.
Some of these providers are based in the United States and rely on appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Usage data is kept in pseudonymised or aggregate form to spot trends over time, and we remove or anonymise what we no longer need.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under GDPR), you can ask us to:
- See the data we hold about you, or get a copy of it
- Correct or delete it
- Withdraw your consent or object to a use
- Complain to your local data protection authority
Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link. To exercise any of the above, just email info@crowncoffeegear.com and we’ll take care of it.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the product grows (for example, when we open pre-orders). We’ll change the “last updated” date at the top when we do.
